‘Picnic at Hanging Rock’ follows five school girls as they attempt to piece together what went wrong on that school trip so many years ago, and, more chillingly, how the mystery spiralled out of control in the aftermath, sending the local community into depression and chaos.

Mathias’ play, brought to life by her highly talented cast and accomplished team of creatives, demonstrated the extremely high calibre of the BOVTS students and indicates the unquestionable potential for those involved in their professional careers.

STAGETALK MAGAZINE.

This was a wonderful ensemble piece with genuine humour, menace and sense of eerie strangeness, over which there was a superbly evocative soundscape by Hannah Bracegirdle.

B24/7.

Well chosen theatrical devices are deployed brilliantly, particularly in the fragmentary and disturbing second half, where the tropes of the schoolroom are given unsettling new life… Driving the action on is a soundtrack evocative of the Australian outback. It starts innocuously, morphing without fanfare into the ever-more-ominous ticking of a clock.

After doing a lot of work remotely due to COVID, this was a chance to work on a show from the rehearsal room to the stage and I loved every second. I got to really create the sound of the world and I am still proud of it now.
